Two Iran Free Workers Union members remain in custody
Iran Free Workers Union – Javanmir Moradi and Taha Azadi, members of Iran Free Workers Union who were arrested by government forces at the beginning of a May Day celebration in Assalouyeh on May 1, 2008 remain in custody of intelligence authorities.
Reports say Fouzieh Khalesi, Mr. Moradi’s wife managed to visit her spouse and Mr. Azadi on May 5, 2008 in the intelligence offices of Assalouyeh, where they were still handcuffed.
According to Iran Free Workers Union Saeed hazrati, a labour activist who were also arrested on May 2, 2008 in Assalouyeh, was released the next day.
Iran Free Workers Union has condemned the arrests and called for immediate and unconditional release of those arrested.
Iran Free Workers Union also called on all workers and labour organizations around the world to voice their protests against May Day arrests and call for their immediate and unconditional release.
