„Hundreds of Iranian citizens who have been detained in the aftermath of the street demonstrations in Kahrizak facility are subjected to daily mistreatment and torture.

The illegal detention facility of Kahrizak is located in the city of Shahresang in Tehran Province that was first utilized as a detention center eight years ago. At the time, an operation entitled „Jazireh“ was underway to „cleanse“ Tehran’s Khakesefid district by detaining of certain „elements.“ The facility of Kahrizak was developed at that time for detention of these individuals as a social safety project.

This illegal facility, that has undergone significant additions and construction in the past two years, has become a pivotal yet covert location for detaining the demonstrators that claimed fraud in the tenth presidential elections.

Hundreds of detainees of the recent street uprisings have been held in various facilities such as the Evin Prison, local detention centers, and Basij jails. One of the most important of such facilities is the Kahrizak prison that, due to lack of its familiarity in media circles and the public, has largely escaped attention and scrutiny.

According to a few prisoners, who have now been transferred from Kahrizak to Ghezel Hesar Prison, in a small area of one hall, two quarantine cells, and 4 individual cells a total of 920 detainees were held. The capacity for this facility is set at 200.

Eyewitnesses have noted that, during the social safety project, the detainees of this facility were subjected to physical abuse upon entry and were give an area of one square meter as their cell. The food at the facility is limited to two meals per day, and the main staple is baked potatoes.

According to field research on this location and eyewitness testimonies, police forces deliver a daily „ration“ of beatings to prisoners lined along the barbwires. Two years ago in this very location, at least fourteen prisoners lost their lives due to lack of access to healthcare and severe physical violence. Even though the Human Rights Activists Association is unable to confirm any recent deaths from the latest arrests, given the dark history of this facility, such speculation would not be misplaced. It has also been reported that group interrogations before cameras occur routinely at this facility.

It is noteworthy that this facility is run by the Security Police Forces and there is no regulation or oversight at this facility“

5.) Zwei weitere Texte, welche die unter Pseudo-Antiimps und anderen Ahmadinejad-VersteherInnen kursierende Legende von einer Politik für die „kleinen Leute“ des Regimes ad absurdum führt: Selling Iran: Ahmadinejad, Privatization and a Bus Driver Who Said No von Billy Wharton:

„The IMF has hailed this process describing Iran in a 2007 position paper as, “Managing the Transition to a Market Economy.” The Fund has had a constant presence in the country since 1945, surviving even the turbulent 1979 Islamic Revolution. IMF officials have employed the usual equation of debt and technical assistance to enforce their pro-market agenda. The next phase, according to IMF planners, of market transition is to “curb the growth of internal demand” through the reduction of state subsidies. Ahmadinejad’s Central Bank appointee, Al-din Hosseini, indicated a shared sentiment, “The government plans to implement a strategy that involves significant reforms, the most important of which is the reform aimed at better subsidy system” (IMF Meeting, 10/13/08).“

6.) Eine neue Ausgabe (Nr. 7) der Untergrundzeitung Khiaban ist erschienen, u.a. mit folgendem Statement von ArbeiterInnen der Autofabrik Iran Khodro:

„Khodro (largest automobile producer in Iran) Workers Issue Proclamation

Worker Friends and Dear Co-workers:

In recent days, scores of our compatriots have been reduced to dirt and blood in savage attacks by the capitalists’ protection forces. Scores of people have been wounded and killed. Was their crime no more than a desire for freedom and a better world? The government of Ahmadinejad proved again that it remained dependent only on the use of suppression, deception, and lies. Never in history have people been killed in such a savage way – even Hitler did not commit such a crime. Attacks with knives and daggers; the murder of a 16-year-old right in front of his mother’s eyes – is there a precedent for this in history? Workers of Iran Khodro will not forget these crimes. While we workers of Iran Khodro condemn these savage attacks on the people, we remember with reverence those who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom and we praise them and their families and all freedom-lovers.

The eternal praise for those struggling to open the way to freedom from a group of Iran Khodro workers.“
