Survival International klagt 10 Staaten wegen der Verletzung der Rechte indigener Communities an

Anlässlich des Tages der Menschenrechte am 10. Dezember hat die Menschenrechtsorganisation Survival International eine Erklärung veröffentlicht, welche zehn Staaten als “Hauptverletzer” der Rechte indigener Communities (im Original “Tribal People’s“) benennt, dies sind:

* Indonesien wegen der Unterdrückung der Bevölkerung von West Papua zur Sicherstellung der Ausbeutung der dortigen Resourcen durch indonesische und multinationale Konzerne
* Botswana: obwohl die Landrechte der San der zentralen Kalahari gerichtlich bestätigt wurden, verhindert die Regierung die Rückkehr von 2002 von dort vertriebenen Menschen
* Brailien: dort werden – ohne das die Regierung eingreift – Angehörige der Guarani von Rinderzüchtern ermordet, vergewaltigt und in den Suizid getrieben
* Peru: die dortige Regierung weigert sich, die Existenz von 15 “unkontaktierten” Indigena-Communities in Regenwaldregionen anzuerkennen, welche unter dem Druck von Erdölgesellschaften und Holzfällern stehen
* Paraguay, da die Regierung beim Schutz des Landes der Ayoreo-Totobiegosode vor Abholzung versagt
* Malaysia, wegen der eklatanten Verletzung der Rechte der UreinwohnerInnen von Sarawak wie der Penan, deren Wohngebiete für Palmölplantagen zerstört werden
* die USA, Neuseeland, Australien und Kanada, da diese im September die UN-Deklaration der Rechte indigener Völker abgelent haben
