“Dreissig Jahre nach der grossen Epoche massiver Landbesetzungen knüpft die andalusische Landarbeitergewerkschaft (Sindicato de Obreros del Campo – SOC) an diese Tradition an. Am 4. März um 11 Uhr morgens besetzen 500 Landarbeiter und Mitglieder der Gewerkschaft das Landgut Finca Somonte, das sich auf den fruchtbaren Böden der Ebene des Guadalquivir in der Nähe von Palma del Rio in der Provinz von Cordoba befindet. Dieses Gut von 400 Hektare, 40 davon mit Bewässerung, ist Teil von 20.000 Hektare, welche die Junta – die sozialistische Regierung in Andalusien – versteigern will. Der Verkauf und die Privatisierung der Finca Somonte war eben für den 5. März geplant; die Besetzung kam dem zuvor. Wer hat im heutigen Spanien, das unter einer brutalen wirtschaftlichen Krise leidet, mit 25% Arbeitslosigkeit, bei den Jungen gar 50%2, überhaupt die notwendigen Mittel für einen Landkauf? Eine superreiche Familie, eine Bank oder eine andere Finanzinstitution? Auf alle Fälle nicht die Einwohner von Palma del Rio – ein Dorf mit 1700 Arbeitslosen.”
