Der Judophobe glaubt es besser zu wissen. Der Antisemitismus stellt ihm ein Dispositiv zur Verfügung, einen „kulturellen“ (oder subkulturellen) „Code“, der sich in der Kette vieler Generationen auskristallisiert hat, die sich gegen eine allzu strenge, sie überfordernde Vaterreligion und gegen den Übergang von der Natural- in die Geld- und Renditenwirtschaft sträubten. Zugleich stellt es ihm eine Matrix zur Strukturierung und Ausrichtung seiner Affekte zur Verfügung. Schuld sind die „Fremden“, die an „Anderes“ glauben und Anderes praktizieren, die Artisten der Abstraktion, die Geld und Geist monopolisiert zu haben scheinen. Durch Adoption des Dispositivs, eine Art Konversion, gewinnt er zudem Anschluss an die informelle, verschwiegene Aberglaubensgemeinschaft der Antisemiten, eine zerstreute Masse, die sich gern zum Pogrom zusammenrottet, sofern sie die staatliche Exekutive und die schweigende Mehrheit hinter sich weiß.

Für ich-schwache, autoritäre Charaktere, die intellektuell der Komplexität der modernen Gesellschaft nicht gewachsen und darum süchtig nach Komplexitäts-Reduktion sind, die sich (und Ihresgleichen) durch alles, was sie als fremdartig empfinden, was anders ist und solches Anderssein behauptet, zutiefst irritiert, ja, provoziert fühlen, ist das antisemitische Dispositiv ein verführerisches Angebot. Seine Adoption besiegelt ihre Erfahrungs-Unwilligkeit und macht sie zu „closed minds“. So werden sie tauglich für die „counterphobic action“, den lebenslangen Kampf gegen „die Juden“ und „die“ Fremden, gegen alles „Jüdische“ und „Andere“, gegen Fremdkörper und Störenfriede in der ersehnten homogenen Gemeinschaft der judenfeindlichen Volksgenossen.

Die Beschleunigung aller Lebensbereiche in den letzten 150 – 200 Jahren, also in der Phase des Industriekapitalismus, hat inzwischen ein nachgerade lebensbedrohliches Ausmaß erreicht, und zwar sowohl auf der individuellen wie auf der gesellschaftlichen Ebene. Auf der individuellen, sprich gesundheitlichen Ebene nehmen die psychischen und physischen Folgen des „Zeitdrucks“, z. B. die sogenannten „Stresserkrankungen“, exponentiell zu, auf der gesellschaftlichen droht der Geschwindigkeitswahn unsere Lebensgrundlagen zu zerstören. Im Zentrum steht dabei der Klimawandel.

Wenn wir diesen Globus nicht endgültig ruinieren wollen, müssen wir erheblich langsamer werden. Und auch hier gilt das Prinzip der Wechselwirkung: Sich persönlich vorzunehmen, „langsamer“ zu werden, ist ein guter Anfang. Aber es reicht nicht. Der Akkordarbeiter am Band zum Beispiel hat diese Entscheidungsfreiheit nicht. Die Einsicht in die Notwendigkeit der „Entschleunigung“ ist die Einsicht, dass es die Verhältnisse umzuwerfen gilt, die uns zum Sklaven der Stopp- und Stechuhr, der just-in-time- Produktion und damit des „citius, altius, fortius“ gemacht haben.

Die I-KLOT-T begrüsst den Ausbruch des Grímsvötn auf das Entschiedenste und verleiht der Hoffnung Ausdruck, dass dieses Ereignis dem Ausbruch des Eyjafjallajökull 2010 auch in verkehrspolitischer Hinsicht bezüglich der Stillegung der Luftfahrt gleichkommen wird.

Students and London Underground workers: statement of mutual solidarity

We the undersigned representatives of student campaigners and London Underground workers wish to publicly state our support for each other’s current struggles against funding cuts, tuition fees and Tube staffing cuts. (Sign this statement by emailing janine.booth@btopenworld.com)

We are fighting to defend two essential public services – education and transport – which we believe should be publicly-provided, fully funded and accessible to all. Both services face intense attack under a government hellbent on vicious public sector cuts.

Students, together with other public transport users, believe that Tube stations should have enough staff for us to travel easily and safely around the capital. London Underground workers support the principle of access for all to further and higher education, and know that many working-class people – including our own kids – will be unable to attend university or college if to do so means taking on a massive debt.

London Underground workers have now taken four days of strike action against the loss of 800 jobs, mainly on stations, as well as other industrial action. Students have repeatedly protested against cuts and fees, walking out of schools and colleges, demonstrating in huge numbers, and occupying universities. Both groups know that if we do not defeat this round of attacks, there will be more to come.

As we fight these cuts, we take inspiration from knowing we are not the only ones taking action. We encourage students and Underground workers to send each other messages of support, and to visit and support each others’ pickets and protests.

In particular, we encourage everyone to attend:
* protest against cuts and fees, Thursday 9 December (the day of the vote in Parliament), assemble 10:00 at ULU, Malet Street – rally at 15:00, Victoria Embankment
* protest against London Underground job cuts, Wednesday 15 December, 09:30, City Hall (as Mayor’s Question Time takes place)
