Leni Jungclas (1917-2009)

Am 28. Juni hat in Köln das Herz einer großen Kämpferin aufgehört zu schlagen. Unsere Genossin Helene (Leni) Jungclas ist tot.

Lenis Leben ist eng mit der Nachkriegsgeschichte der IV. Internationale in Deutschland verbunden. Am 22. August 1917 wird sie in Köln geboren. Ihr Vater Willi Perz ist linker Sozialdemokrat, Betriebsrat und seit 1932 Mitglied der Sozialistischen Arbeiterpartei (SAP). Bereits 1929 schließt sie sich der Freidenkerjugend an. Als Vierzehnjährige tritt sie 1931 dem Sozialistischen Jugendverband bei, der SAP-Jugendorganisation. Sie ist das jüngste Mitglied. Leni erlernt den Beruf der Putzmacherin. Nach 1933 ist sie im Widerstand gegen die Nazis aktiv. Sie entgeht aber zum Glück der Verfolgung durch die Gestapo.

1945 tritt sie wie viele SozialistInnen in die SPD ein. 1947 schließt sie sich der Vierten Internationale an. Seit 1950 lebt sie mit Georg (Schorsch) Jungclas zusammen. Jakob Moneta erinnert sich später: „In Köln hatte sich Schorsch… niedergelassen, der sozusagen die kleine deutsche trotzkistische Bewegung auf seinen Schultern trug. Vergessen wird jedoch hinzufügen, daß es Leni war, die Schorsch auf ihren Schultern getragen hat.”

Sie beschreibt das selbst: „Wirtschaftlich konnten wir uns dadurch über Wasser halten, daß ich als selbständige Putzmacherin… [und] später … [als Büroangestellte] gearbeitet habe.” Ihre Wohnung und ihr Hutgeschäft sind die „Zentrale” der Sektion. Auch mühselige Organisationsarbeit kann sie nicht schrecken.

Nach dem Tod von Schorsch im Jahr 1975 plant Leni einen mutigen Schritt. Sie zieht in das kleine Dorf Thalhausen. Ihr dort erworbenes Häuschen stellt sie der Sektion als Schulungsheim zur Verfügung.

Alle Wendungen der großen Geschichte und der kleinen deutschen Sektion haben Leni nicht resignieren lassen. Noch im September 2008 meldet sie sich telefonisch aus Köln. Sie will unbedingt an der Konferenz „70 Jahre IV. Internationale” in Mannheim teilnehmen. Leider verhindert ihr Gesundheitszustand dieses Wiedersehen.

über iranisch-kurdistan (1980)

Die Broschüre über iranisch-kurdistan (pdf-Datei, 2,31 mb) beinhaltet einen Bericht zur dortigen Lage aus dem Herbst 1979, welcher zuerst in der Oktober-Ausgabe der in Türkisch-Kurdistan erscheinenden Zeitschrift Jîna Nû publiziert wurde und dann 1980 vom Armanc-Verlag in deutscher Übersetzung vorgelegt wurde. Jîna Nû wurde von der 1975 gegründeten, aus den DDKO hervorgegangenen Partiya Pêşeng a Karkerên Kurdistanê (PPKK, Partei der Arbeiter-Avantgarde Kurdistans) herausgegeben, einer Organisation welche eine insgesamt “prosowjetische” Orientierung mit einer aktivistischeren, sich von der aus Sicht der PPKK sowohl in der nationalen Frage wie in Strategie und Taktik opportunistisch Politik von TKP, TIP, PSKT, ICP und Tudeh abhebenden Linie verband. Die PPKK selbst schloss sich, nachdem sie in den 1980ern in Türkisch-Kurdistan eine gewisse Rolle gespielt hatte mit der KUK-SE und der KAK zur inzwischen zerfallenen Organisation YEKBÛN zusammen. Am Inhalt der Broschüre ist bemerkenswert, dass hier relativ positiv über die PDK-Iran berichtet wird und eine für “prosowjetische” Publikationen der damaligen Periode kritische Linie zum Regime in Tehran gefahren wird.

John Saville (1916-2009)

Am 13. juni starb im Alter von 93 Jahren John Saville: marxistischer Historiker, Mitbegründer des New Reasoner (zusammen mit E.P. Thompson) und des Socialist Register und eine der bekanntesten Figuren der britischen New Left, nachfolgend einige Auszüge aus einem von Eric Hobsbawm verfassten Nachruf aus dem gestrigen Guardian:

“Khrushchev’s denunciation of Stalin in 1956, or, more exactly, the failure of the British CP leadership to recognise its significance, transformed the Historians’ Group from loyalists into vocal critics. Saville’s was the first voice raised at its meetings. Soon, in partnership with another Yorkshire Communist historian, EP Thompson, he launched an opposition journal, the New Reasoner. Both were suspended by the CP and soon resigned from it with their supporters under the impact of the Hungarian rising of that year.

Saville remained a Marxist and, like most of the ex-Communist historians, firmly on the left; indeed, decidedly “old left” rather than “new left”, let alone New Labour. The Society for the Study of Labour History, which he helped to found in 1958, inspired his most influential work: Essays in Labour History and the Dictionary of Labour Biography. This latter, remarkable, work, the best of its kind anywhere in the world, will almost certainly remain as his most lasting monument. He was also a force in the new Oral History Society, of which he became the first chairman in 1973, and in the library and publications department of Hull University, not to mention the economic and social history committee of what was then the Social Science Research Council.”
