Mai 2012 die Anstrengungen intensivieren, dass das Beispiel der zirka 1% der subjektiven Revolutionäre einen nachhaltigen Einfluss auf einen Teil der 99% (denjenigen Teil, welcher objektiv wie subjektiv in der Lage sein kann, sich selbst zu subjektiven Revolutionären zu entwickeln), welche den revolutionären Bruch mit Kapitalismus und Patriarchat noch nicht als realistische Perspektive ansehen, entfalten.

International Workers’ Day 2012. The people demand unionized workers!

In the upcoming demonstrations of the united left, the Independent Union WAC Maan and the Daam workers’ party, call for peace, equality and social justice, and demonstrates in solidarity with the popular Arab uprisings, particularly the heroic revolt of the Syrian people.

The Independent Trade Union WAC Maan and the Daam workers’ party, call on their members and supporters to take an active part in the demonstrations and marches of the united leftwing and workers’ organizations, which will be held to mark May Day (International Workers’ Day) in Tel Aviv on May 1, in Haifa on April 28, and in Jerusalem on April 27.

We are happy that for the first time in years, the forces on the left together with workers’ organizations have united to march together under the banner, “The people demand unionized workers.” Despite some differences of opinion, it is clear that all the groups marching to mark May Day agree on the need to step up the struggle against the extreme rightwing government of Benjamin Netanyahu. We aspire to a united front which presents an alternative social political agenda.

Arab and Jewish activists from the WAC Maan will join members of Da’am, the Workers Party, to call for peace, equality and social justice. As a Jewish-Arab workers’ organization aiming for revolutionary change, we dedicate this year to the Arab uprisings, especially the Syrian revolt. The Syrian people are rising up to demand freedom, justice and peace, and to bring down the dictator who butchers his citizens mercilessly. In the May Day marches, we will also convey a message of solidarity to the young Egyptian revolutionaries and the Egyptian workers who did the impossible and brought down the tyrant Mubarak. We will strengthen them as they work to complete the aims of the revolution.

Our main target is the anti-worker, rightwing and warmongering government of Israel. On May Day this year, we emphasize the call to bring down Netanyahu’s government, because:

Netanyahu’s government leads destructive economic social policies. For many years, even before his latest election as prime minister, Netanyahu has promoted privatization of the public sphere and dismantled the social security net. Israel has become a paradise for tycoons and hell for hundreds of thousands of precarious workers. Today, most Israelis understand that the transfer of natural resources and public services to capitalists has led to poverty, violence and the unraveling of the social fabric.

During the last three years, Netanyahu’s government and its extreme rightwing coalition have passed a slew of racist laws against the state’s Arab citizens. It is currently promoting a program to destroy dozens of Arab villages in the Negev Desert, preventing the development of Arab towns, and increasing hatred and racism.
Netanyahu’s government is responsible for the deadlock in the peace process, which is liable to deteriorate into war. Its policies are based on the strengthening of the settlements in the occupied territories, the rejection of any compromise with the Palestinians, and the creation of an artificial crisis with Iran. The rightwing government, whose foreign minister is the fascist thug Avigdor Lieberman, challenges the international consensus on the need to withdraw to the pre-1967 borders and the need to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

A demonstration in Kufr Qara

In addition to our active participation in these events in the three main cities, WAC Maan together with Da’am – Workers’ Party will organize a demonstration in Kufr Qara on Saturday May 5, in solidarity with the Syrian people who are rising up against the regime. We call for unconditional support to the Syrian people’s popular uprising and with all the Arab people’s uprisings against oppression and exploitation, and for freedom and social justice.

Der internationale Tag der Arbeiterklasse im Iran

Den ersten Mai 2012 erleben die iranischen ArbeiterInnen unter den schwersten wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen und einer mittelalterlich anmutenden politischen Repression. Die prekäre Lage derwerktätigen Menschen in Iran ist das Ergebnis der über 30 jährigen Herrschaft der islamischen Republik in diesem Land.

Das islamische Regime behandelt die iranische Volkswirtschaft wie Kriegsbeute. Einzelne „Würdenträger“, hohe Militärs und Politfunktionäre des Regimes haben den iranischen Zoll, Telekommunikationssysteme, Transport, Import und Export unter sich aufgeteilt.

Doch neben dem Besitz von enormen Erdöl- u. Erdgasreserven, die dem Regime Jahr für Jahr Milliarden Dollar in die Kasse spülen, ist Iran ein Agrarland und verfügt über jahrhundertealte Handwerkstraditionen. Das herrschende Wirtschaftschaos bewirkt aber, dass Käse aus Holland, Hähnchen aus Deutschland, Plastik- u. andere Billigwaren aus China und importiertes Obst aus den Nachbarländern den iranischen Markt überfluten.

Es liegt auf der Hand, dass dieses unproduktive „Wirtschaftssystem“ die Lebensgrundlage von Millionen von Menschen zerstört, die lohnabhängig sind und außer ihrer Arbeitskraft nichts besitzen. Auf Grund der vom Regime selbst im Frühjahr 2012 herausgegebenen Daten liegen Preissteigerungen und Inflationsrate für das laufende Jahr je nach Wirtschaftszweig zwischen 30% – 100% Prozent.Weiterhin aus offiziellen Angaben geht hervor, dass über 40% der iranischen Bevölkerung unter dem Existenzminimum lebt und die Arbeitslosenquote sich bei ca. 25% bewegt. Wir dürfen nichtVergessen: Diese Zahlen werden von den staatlichen Zensurbehörden „gefiltert“ herausgegeben, die tatsächliche Situation ist weitaus dramatischer!

Die iranischen ArbeiterInnen finden sich mit der im Land herrschenden Misere nicht ab und führen einen kontinuierlichen Kampf für die Veränderung der Verhältnisse. In keinem vergleichbaren Land gibt es so unterschiedliche Formen der Arbeiterproteste und Streiks wie in Iran. Unter den Augen der allgegenwärtigen staatlichen Kontrolle werden vom Regime unabhängige Betriebs- und Arbeiterräte gebildet, die Aktionen wie Fabrikbesetzung, Streiks und Protestmärsche bis zu den Regierungsstellen organisieren und durchführen. Die Proteste richten sich gegen Privatisierungsmaßnahmen, gegen das Ausbleiben der Lohnzahlungen, gegen die befristeten Verträge und Leihfirmen…

Für Ihren Einsatz zahlen die AktivistInnen der iranischen Arbeiterbewegung einen hohen Preis. Sie werden in den Betrieben, auf offener Straße oder zu Hause vor den Augen ihrer Familien verhaftet, sitzen jahrelang im Gefängnis und verschwinden oft spurlos von der Bildfläche.Um den Widerstand in den Reihen der kämpferischen Opposition zu brechen und in der Gesellschaft Angst und Schrecken zu verbreiten, greift das islamische Regime immer wieder aus den überfüllten Gefängnissen völlig unschuldige Gefangene heraus, verurteilt sie im Schnellverfahren zum Tod und lässt sie innerhalb der Gefängnismauern oder öffentlich hinrichten. Die Namen von einigen – auch im Ausland und im Internet – bekannten gefangenen Persönlichkeiten der iranischen Arbeiterbewegung, die in den Gefängnissen des Regimes gefoltert werden und vom Tod bedroht sind, seien hier stellvertretend für tausende unbekannte Gefangene erwähnt:

Mansour Ossanloo, Sharokh Zamani, Ali Nedjati, Reza Shahabi, Javid Hootan-Kia, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, Mohammad Djarahi, Ebrahim Madadi, Rasool Badaghi…

Das folgende Zitat soll verdeutlichen, wie sehr bedroht die politischen Gefangenen in Iran sind. Im März 2012 veröffentlichte Amnesty International einen Sonderbericht über Iran. Dort heißt es u. a.:

„…Die iranische Regierung hat den Druck auf die Opposition erhöht und 2011 sind vier mal mehr Menschen hingerichtet worden als 2010…“

Der Herrschaft eines der blutrünstigsten Regimes unserer Zeit trotzend kämpfen die
ArbeiterInnen und andere Werktätigen in Iran für die Verwirklichung des Grundrechts auf die Selbstorganisierung der Arbeiterklasse.

Labour activist Zabiollah Bagheri arrested before Workers‘ Day

Iranian labour activist Zabiollah Bagheri was arrested in Esfahan this week, according to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters.

The labour activist was reported arrested on Tuesday, as the lead-up to International Worker Day has put Iranian authorities on alert for the possibility of labour protests.

Bagheri was summoned by factory security as he was leaving work and was taken to an undetermined location by three officials in plain clothes.

The reason for the arrest and his whereabouts remain unknown. The report indicates that in recent months, Bagheri was involved in organizing labour protests against the non-payment of wages and the suspension of worker benefits.

Seit 2008 be­fin­det sich der Ka­pi­ta­lis­mus in einer Krise – sie ist nicht die Erste und wird auch nicht die Letz­te blei­ben. Die Krise bringt mit äu­ßers­ter Bru­ta­li­tät zu Tage, was schon immer Be­stand­teil des Sys­tems Ka­pi­ta­lis­mus war: mas­si­ve Pri­va­ti­sie­rungs- und Spar­maß­nah­men ver­ur­sa­chen vor allem in Süd­eu­ro­pa die Ver­ar­mung brei­ter Be­völ­ke­rungs­tei­le. Ren­ten- und Lohn­kür­zun­gen, Ob­dach­lo­sig­keit, die Aus­wei­tung des Zeit­ar­beits­sek­tors und die damit ein­her­ge­hen­de Um­ver­tei­lung von unten nach oben sind nur ei­ni­ge der Fol­gen.
An­statt sich in ras­sis­ti­scher Ma­nier über die „Plei­te-Grie­chen“ auf­zu­re­gen, müs­sen wir uns be­wusst wer­den, dass der Wohl­stand der Bun­des­re­pu­blik auch auf der Ver­schul­dung Grie­chen­lands fußt.
Es ist die­sel­be ka­pi­ta­lis­ti­sche Elite, die in Grie­chen­land Spar­pro­gram­me durch­drückt, Pro­tes­te nie­der­knüp­peln lässt und hier in der BRD Hartz IV-Ge­set­ze ver­schärft. Wie sol­len wir die­ses Sys­tem je­mals ab­schaf­fen kön­nen, wenn wir nicht auf­hö­ren, uns ge­gen­sei­tig zu be­kämp­fen?

Communiqué of the Communist Party of Iran on May First International Workers’ Day (2012)

The current crisis of the global capitalism has brought unprecedented unemployment and poverty for the working class. In many developed and developing countries, the attacks by the states on workers’ lives in order to control the crisis have been confronted by a wave of labor and mass struggles and protests on the streets. During this period, many labor leaders and activists have through exprience come to this conclusion that there is no capitalistic solution to the existing crisis. On the other hand, the reactions of the capitalist states to the crisis have caused spreading poverty and devastation for the society.

This situation and the growing working class struggles against the austerity policies and the devastating consequences of the crisis have created the tangible backgrounds for the radicalization of these class movements and for taking them beyond the limits of the reformistic policies by the labour unions. The anticapitalist ”Occupy Wall Street” movement took shape in the context of this current crisis, a movement which, despite all the shortcomings it might have, could bring millions of angry protesters on the streets against the capitalist system, its deep-seated systemic crisis and the dark future it holds for the society.

The 99 percent movement in America few months ago declared this year’s May First as a day of ’Global Strike’ and called upon all the 99 percent of the world to leave their jobs on this day, take their demands to the streets and show their solidarity with the whole humanity. The intiators of the call hope that this action would create an opportunity for the ”Occupy Wall Street” and 99% movement to spread into the industrial and production centers and working places.

The working class in Tunisia and Egypt, who were the forerunners of the North African and Mideast revolutions, through their continuing struggles and strikes in support of their urgent demands, showed that the replacemement of old dictators with ractionary Islamic groups and pro-west bourgeois nationalists can not be the accepted as the outcome of these revolutionary upheavals and that the struggles and the revolution must be continued.

In Iran the subsidy cuts, which were executed from last year and which were enforced based on the neoliberal policies and instructions of the IMF in order to help Iran’s economy and help Iran become a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) not only didn’t help Iran’s sick economic situation nor paved the way for its memebership in the WTO, but rather it worsened the economic situation further more. After one year of enforcing the subsidy cuts now and as a result of ending the price controls by the government, thousands of large and small production centers have been closed down. Also the large-scale economic embargoes on Iran not only accelerated the bankruptcy and close-down of many factories and production centers and as a result the large and daily layoffs, but also the high inflation rate and the skyrocketing food prices have caused more devastation and poverty for the workers.

The leader of the Islamic Republic called 1391 (Iranian current year) the year of ’National Production and Supporting Iranian Labor and Capital’ which means more exploitation of the working class. The government also approved this year’s national minimum wage to be 390 thousand Tomans which is in fact three to five times lower than the poverty level and this means pushing many more working families under the line of poverty and towards starvation.

The Iranian working class is receiving the blow from all sides. The unleashed attack by the contractor companies and the spread of fixed-term contracts, working without employment contracts, lack of effective social insurances, lack of standard health and safety insurances at work, discrimination against the female and immigrant workers, lack of the freedom of speech, lack of rights to strike and self-organization, systematic crack-down on labor protests and strikes and on independent labor unions and organizations, the daily arrest and harassment of labor activists in addition to many other violations have put the Iranian workers under unbearable pressure.

In order to put an end to this difficult economic situation and all other political and social deprivations that has made life hell for the working class, the workers have no other way but to lead a united and nation-wide struggle. The experiences of labor struggles during the past years have shown us that the workers will not be able to defeat the Iranian capitalist regime through scattered and disjoined protests, struggles and strikes. It is only through coordinated and general labor strikes that workers can force the capitalist class and their state to retreat and at the same time impose their urgent demands on them.

The labor activists and forerunners are well aware of the historical and important role of the working class in the coming upheavals and developments, thus they need to go among the workers and support and contribute to their current and daily struggles for achieving their demands. The current labor struggles require aware and objective involvement of the communists in the labor movement and this involement will help the workers’ struggles not to deviate from its right course and serve the long term objectives of the working class. The ongoing attempts and activities by the Iranian workers for forming their own class and mass organizations should be accompanied with the aim of uniting all workers around the country and connecting their scattered struggles together.

Now that we are only few days away from May First, the workers’ international solodarity day, the communist activists among the labor movement need to have a clear sight of the different phases in the advancement of the working class. The May First rallies and activities are an opportunity for disseminating the seeds of class awareness among the workers and poeple’s masses. These activists need to have a clear and precise evaluation of the current situation and the power balance, try to help hold May First rallies and assemblies and at the same time spread awareness about socialism among the workers. May First as a part of the working class struggles is a chance for the workers to become more aware of their historical role in emancipating themselves and world from the exploiting capitalsit system. The communist workers should try to show to the working masses the necessity of organizing in their own class unions and political communist party in order to prepare for the workers’ revolution, seize the political power and run the society by themselves.

During the May First celebrations and gatherings, the labor activists as well as the activists of the Communist Party of Iran need to remember that before anything May First belongs to the working class and this is not a party or organizational celebration detached from the working masses. Any activity on this day should stem from the direct and aware involvement by the working masses themselves. The capitalist class has always tried to create schism among the workers based on thier religion, nationality, gender and so on. It is the duty of the communists and aware workers to emphasize their class identity and unite in face of the capitalists. Thus they need to convince the radical and socialist workers as well as labour unions and organizations to work together to prepare for the May First activities and show their class union despite any political and opintion differnnces they might have.

For the Iranian working class, as it is for the world’s working class, May First is a symbol of class solidarity and awareness, awareness of the workers’ living and working conditions, awareness for struggle and awareness of the way of emancipation from the oppresssions and exploitations of the capitalist system. The Communist Party of Iran marks May First, the day of workers’ class solidarity and congratulates all the workers around the world on this day.
