Four workers have been hospitalized after riots took place in front of the gates of the Ikea plant in Piacenza this morning (November 2).

The plant is the Swedish corporation’s main Italian storage centre and its workers are nominally employed by several cooperatives. However, as is often the case in Italy, the name ‘cooperative’ hides a dire reality of exploitation, the ignoring of labour regulations and of national collective agreements.

It is precisely this reality that struggling workers (many of them migrants) are denouncing, with a strike that has now been ongoing for several days. Their press release lists serious issues such as wage inequality, excessive workload, unpaid wages, not to mention the firm’s refusal to allow union representation.

IKEA’s headquarters immediately retaliated by firing 12 workers, deemed as the main organizers of the protests. Nine of them are members of the independent Union COBAS. Violent clashes had already taken place on October 30, when police intervened to clear the workers blockade – aiming at preventing loading trucks from entering the plant and, ultimately, at stopping production. Something similar occurred on the morning of November 2, when police violently attacked the protesting workers with teargas and batons.

Later in the afternoon, the Mayoral Office of Piacenza hosted a negotiation. At the end of the talks, representatives of the cooperatives promised not to fire the 12 workers involved; however, they announced that they would transfer the workers to other IKEA plants. COBAS deems this agreement unacceptable; among other things, it would cost them their entire union representation in the Piacenza plant.

15. Oktober 2012 – In den vergangenen Tagen haben konservative Politiker, aber auch Mitglieder der SPD, wiederholt gefordert, die Visumpflicht für serbische und mazedonische StaatsbürgerInnen, die im Dezember 2009 gelockert wurde, wieder einzuführen. Sie möchten damit den „massiven Zustrom von serbischen und mazedonischen Staatsbürgern“ stoppen. Dabei geht es in erster Linie um Mitglieder der Romaminderheit, die seit Aufhebung der Visumpflicht für Kurzaufenthalte im Schengenraum vermehrt in der EU und anderen Schengener Vertragsstaaten Asyl beantragen.

Die Aufhebung der Visumpflicht für die Staaten des sogenannten westlichen Balkans steht am Ende eines langen Prozesses, bei dem die Staaten im Auftrag der EU tiefgreifende Reformen im Bereich der Gesetzgebung und anderen Bereichen (Dokumentensicherheit, Grenzkontrollen und Kontrolle der Wanderbewegungen, usw.) durchführen mussten. Nur im Bereich Menschenrechte blieben die Reformen weit hinter den Erwartungen zurück. Ende August stellte die EU-Kommission in ihrem dritten Bericht zur Visaliberalisierung erneut fest, dass die Roma in allen Balkanstaaten einer umfassenden Diskriminierung ausgesetzt sind, die sie an der Ausübung grundlegender Rechte wie beispielsweise dem Zugang zu Bildung und Ausbildung, Gesundheitsversorgung und Arbeitsmarkt hindert.

Nach Aussagen der serbischen Regierung leben circa 60 Prozent der geschätzten 450 000 Roma in Serbien in unsicheren und unhygienischen Lebensverhältnissen; 30 Prozent haben keinen Zugang zu Trinkwasser; 70 Prozent keinen Zugang zur Kanalisation. Serbische Studien belegen, dass Romakinder in Sonderschulen mit einem Anteil von mehr als 30 Prozent deutlich überrepräsentiert sind. Umfragen zufolge gelten sie als die meist diskriminierte Bevölkerungsgruppe in Serbien, eine Diskriminierung, die sich insbesondere im Zugang zum Arbeitsmarkt deutlich macht. Die Europäische Kommission gegen Rassismus und Intoleranz (ECRI) stellte in ihrem letzten Länderbericht zu Serbien fest, dass die Mehrheit aller Roma von Gelegenheitsjobs, wie beispielsweise dem Sammeln von Altmetall lebt, und dass kaum Roma in staatlichen Betrieben beschäftigt sind.

Auch in Mazedonien sind Roma einer allumfassenden Diskriminierung ausgesetzt. Ebenso wie in Serbien leben sie in Mazedonien oft in abgeschiedenen Siedlungen, wo sie keinen oder nur beschränkten Zugang zu grundlegenden Diensten haben. Romakinder sind in Sonderschulen und in Sonderklassen deutlich überrepräsentiert, was sowohl auf ungeeignete Einstufungstests, als auch auf eine falsche Orientierung der Eltern zurückgeht, wie das Budapester European Roma Rights Centre kürzlich in einer Studie feststellte. Die Europäische Kommission gegen Rassismus und Intoleranz (ECRI) stellte in einem 2010 veröffentlichten Bericht fest, dass 70 Prozent aller Roma in Mazedonien arbeitslos sind, womit ihre Arbeitslosigkeit deutlich über dem Landesdurchschnitt liegt. ECRI fand auch, dass Roma mit Vorurteilen im Gesundheitssystem konfrontiert sind, was ihren Zugang zu medizinischen Dienstleistungen beeinträchtigt.

Sexistischer Rollback in Schweden

„… There has been an increase in threats directed against feminists and women who publicly display their aversion towards gender norms in Sweden, according to many feminist writers and activists. This targets the rights of feminists to exist in a democratic society, according to Anna-Klara Bratt, chief editor of the newly started feminist internet newspaper, Feministiskt Perspektiv. In a context of growing racism and xenophobia, most clearly expressed in the 2010 elections where the racist party the Swedish Democrats won parliamentary seats for the first time, feminists are also singled out for threats and ridicule.

In late 2011 the SCUM Manifesto, written by Valerie Solanas in 1967, was performed in front of several audiences, including school students, in Stockholm. Expressing violent and patronizing attitudes towards [women?], anti-feminist bloggers, conservative men’s groups and fathers’ rights-groups condemned the performance and arranged a protest demonstration.

The hype around the play soon got out of hand: the women involved were threatened with rape and murder on at least one blog, received numerous threatening e-mails, and had their full names and addresses posted on the internet. An American anti-feminist newspaper followed suit and offered 1000 US dollars to anyone who would reveal the identities of the ensemble (this after having misread the situation and thinking that the women were creating an actual organization based on the Manifesto). The police considered the threats so serious that they decided to keep the theatre under surveillance.

In early 2012 a young woman in the audience of a popular singing contest was caught on TV as she cheered with her arms in the air. A young man noticed she had not shaved the hair under her arms; he quickly took a snapshot of the woman and spread the photograph across social networks. Body hair on women has been taboo in Sweden for a couple of decades; within hours the photograph spread further and further, until over a thousand demeaning, threatening and derogatory comments had been directed against the woman.

Aus Anlass der Diskussion um die Diskussion um die Överklassafari in Stockholmer Reichenviertel der Genossen von Förbundet Allt åt Alla hat der Syndikalistiska Ungdomsförbundet (SUF) auf seiner 22. Parteikonferenz in Umeå ein Statement zum Thema „Klassenhass“ verabschiedet, welches nachfolgend (trotz einiger problematischer Formulierungen im Text) dokumentiert wird (Quelle A-Infos):

Sweden, Statement from the 22nd congress of the Syndicalis Youth Federation

Dear Swedish upper classes, — The reason we are writing this letter is because we wanted to set some things straight about what has been going on lately. We know we should have sent this letter long ago, but the nature of the recent debates in the media really took us by surprise. Frankly, were very surprised; by the fact that you hadn’t already realized that we hate you, and that this newly acquired knowledge would consequently chock you to such huge a degree, surprised us to such a degree that we simply found ourselves at loss for words. —- We are not presumptuous, we acknowledge and know fully well that we’ve been lacking in unity for too long, that there have been too many situations when our hands were clenched into fists in our pockets, when they really should have been put to use in striking your ideas down.

However, we never attempted to keep our hate hidden. We’ve been constantly struggling, fighting and screaming, and we never really doubted that you had gotten our point – but apparently it took an “upper-class safari” bus-trip* for this to happen.

We concede that there is a theoretical possibility that you could have remained ignorant of our hatred. You are – obviously – totally content with the workings of class society, and why shouldn’t you be? You’re the ones who gain from it. For us, the only thing left at the end of the month is this class hatred. However, hate is not a name for the feelings you provoke inside of us – it’s a general term for all the fucked up situations you cause us, like panicking when not being able to afford the rent, having to turn to our mates and families to borrow money for food, the shame of being unemployed, and the shame of being forced to the unemployment office, queueing in order to get our benefits. Class hatred is what enables us to mobilize all these feelings of shame, frustration and alienation into a force for social change and struggle – struggle for a class-less society, where we don’t have to take shit from you people like you.

Now that media has taken up the topic of class-hatred, the spin in the debates has been that it’s something destructive, a “negative energy” of sorts. This doesn’t bother us much – it sounds all too much like New Age bullshit anyway. That our hate is nothing but irrational and caused by jealousy, how could one expect anything else, coming from you and your media? You refuse to engage in class collaboration on equal terms – well, we refuse to engage in class collaboration at all. Class hatred is made possible only by a society underpinned by people like you, and this earns you our hate. The only way we could ever stop hating you is for you to go away. Yes, you read it correctly; not only do we hate class society – we hate you as well. We hate your villas, and your ugly kids who’ll never be forced to feel what we feel. We hate your superior and priggish attitude and your desperate defense of your class privileges, privileges that allow you to go on living in the faith that you, despite not being anything but parasites, could ever have anything positive to contribute to our world, at all.

Mehr zur „Överklassafari“ nach Solsidan und Saltsjöbaden

auf die klassenkämpferische Bustour in die Reichenvororte Stockholms wurde auf dieser Seite schon vor einigen Tagen hingewiesen, nun hierzu ein Hinweis auf einen weiteren Artikel zum Thema auf Syndikalismus.tk: “Pflege deinen Klassenhaß”:

„[…] Wir halten an einer Kreuzung mit See-Blick. Hier im Admiralsvägen [Admirals-Weg] wohnen 13 Familien in einigen der teuersten Villen Schwedens. Eigentlich alle hier haben ihren Reichtum geerbt. Am weitesten verbreitet ist die Berufsgruppe „Risiko-Kapitalist“, und die meisten haben, mit wechselndem Erfolg, versucht, dem Finanzamt zu entkommen. Wirtschaftsstraftaten sind üblich, aber es gibt auch andere Formen der Kriminalität. „Verkehrsstraftaten sind ziemlich verbreitet, die Leute hier mögen es zu rasen, sowohl mit dem Auto als auch mit dem Motorboot, und das häufig betrunken“ berichtet Martin Fredriksson. Dann wird es Zeit, in den sicheren Bus zurückzukehren. Bei der Abfahrt vom Admiralsvägen klatscht ein letztes Ei auf die Fensterscheibe. Ein schwarzes Auto blockiert die Weiterfahrt. Meter für Meter fährt es im Zickzack vor uns her. Jemand läßt die Autonummer überprüfen [so etwas kann man als Privatperson in Schweden, A.d.Ü.]. Der Wagen ist auf einen bekannten Direktor zugelassen, der kürzlich zu einer Bewährungsstrafe und einer Geldbuße verurteilt wurde. Aber bald hat der Fahrer es satt und wir können heimwärts fahren. Danach gibt es Kaffee und ein Quiz. Als wir die idyllische Saltsjöbaden-Landschaft hinter uns gelassen haben, herrscht eine beinahe alberne Erleichterung im Bus. Für die meisten von uns war dies ein Besuch eines ziemlich unbekannten Ortes, bewohnt von der vielleicht raubgierigsten Spezies.«

Als Resümee läßt sich sagen: mit wenig Aufwand und viel Phantasie kann man erstaunliche Resultate erzielen. Die Idee einer »Safari durch die Territorien der Reichen und (angeblich) Schönen« lädt direkt zur Nachahmung ein. Solsidan ist überall.“

Reiche gucken gehen: Upper-Class Safari in Stockholm

Autonome Bustouren durch das Stockholmer Reichenviertel Solsidan, gefunden auf LibCom, mehr bei The Local und Förbundet Allt åt Alla … und die Zootiere finden das gar nicht gut und zeigen ihr wahres Gesicht:

„Some Solsidan residents have even shown their distaste by throwing eggs at the tour bus as it passes.

„It is sad that adults use their time and money to come out here and look,“ said one teenage resident to local paper Nacka Värmdö Posten (NVP).

„I don’t understand what those communists are doing here. It is hardly our fault that they are poor,“ another said, eggs at the ready.

One angry resident filed a complaint to the police, citing intrusion of privacy.

The group behind the venture calls on prospective sightseers to develop their „hate“ of the class system, which has in effect, led to Solsidan residents showing a hate of their own.

Though aware that the tour in itself is a provocation, and that their talk of „nurturing one’s class hatred“ also could induce bad feeling, Barot told DN she felt that the reaction was „unproportional“.

“We have unfortunately received racist, sexist and hateful comments from young people who live in the area. It is terrible to read what they write, but it also shows that it is important to raise this question, for their attitude comes from somewhere,” Barot said to the paper.“
